Fitbit Integration
Fitbit provides comprehensive health and fitness tracking across a wide range of affordable devices. Connect your Fitbit account to GymLive to share your activity, sleep, and health data with your coach.Fitbit integration uses OAuth authentication - you’ll sign in with your Fitbit account to authorize GymLive access.
What Data Can Be Synced?
Fitbit tracks extensive health and wellness metrics:- Daily Activity: Steps, distance, floors climbed, calories burned
- Active Minutes: Zone minutes (fat burn, cardio, peak)
- Heart Rate: Continuous tracking, resting HR, HR zones
- Sleep: Duration, stages (light, deep, REM), sleep score
- Workouts: Auto-detected and logged exercises with GPS routes
- Body Metrics: Weight, BMI, body fat % (with Aria scales)
- Women’s Health: Menstrual cycle tracking
- Stress Management: EDA responses (Sense/Charge 5)
- Readiness Score: Daily readiness based on activity, HRV, and sleep
Setup Instructions

Prepare Your Fitbit Account
Ensure your Fitbit is syncing properly:
- Open the Fitbit app on your phone
- Check that your device shows as connected
- Verify today’s stats are current
- Ensure your profile information is complete
Your Fitbit should sync automatically when near your phone with Bluetooth on.

Connect Fitbit to GymLive
In the GymLive app:
- Navigate to Settings > Integrations
- Select Fitbit
- Tap Sign in with Fitbit
- You’ll be redirected to Fitbit’s secure login

Authorize GymLive
On Fitbit’s authorization page:
- Enter your Fitbit email and password
- Review the data permissions requested
- Select the data types you want to share
- Click Allow to grant access
- You’ll return to GymLive automatically

Verify Connection
Back in GymLive:
- Fitbit should show as “Connected”
- Your recent data will begin syncing
- Historical data (up to 30 days) syncs gradually
- New data syncs automatically throughout the day
Verifying Your Fitbit User ID
If data isn’t syncing, verify you’re using the correct account:- Open Fitbit app
- Tap your profile picture (top left)
- Tap your Fitbit display name
- Select Personal
- Scroll to bottom to see your Fitbit User ID
- Confirm this matches the account connected to GymLive

Active Zone Minutes
Personalized heart rate zones:Fat Burn Zone
50-69% max HR - Builds endurance
Cardio Zone
70-84% max HR - Improves cardiovascular fitness
Peak Zone
85%+ max HR - Increases performance
Sleep Score
0-100 score based on:- Duration: Time asleep vs. time in bed
- Quality: Deep and REM sleep percentages
- Restoration: Resting heart rate and restlessness
Daily Readiness (Premium)
Available on Sense 2, Charge 5/6, Inspire 3:- Based on HRV, recent activity, and sleep
- Suggests workout intensity for the day
- Requires Fitbit Premium subscription

Syncing Best Practices
Automatic Syncing
Fitbit syncs when:- Within 30 feet of phone with Bluetooth on
- Every 15 minutes if actively tracking
- When you open the Fitbit app
- After completing a workout
Manual Sync
Force a sync by:- Opening Fitbit app
- Pull down from top of dashboard
- Wait for sync to complete
- Check GymLive after 2-3 minutes

- Check Fitbit app first:
- Open Fitbit app
- Verify today’s data is current
- Force sync by pulling down
- Verify connection:
- GymLive Settings > Integrations
- Fitbit should show “Connected”
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
- Check permissions:
- May need to reauthorize after Fitbit updates
- Ensure all requested data types are allowed

Common issue with multiple accounts:
- Disconnect Fitbit in GymLive
- Log out of Fitbit app
- Log into correct Fitbit account
- Reconnect to GymLive
- Verify User ID matches (see section above)

- Only 30 days of historical data on initial sync
- Some detailed data (intraday) requires special permissions
- Deleted Fitbit data won’t sync to GymLive

- Fitbit app to cloud: Immediate when app opens
- Fitbit cloud to GymLive: 5-15 minutes

Premium features sync to GymLive but require active Fitbit Premium subscription.
Battery Optimization
To ensure consistent syncing:-
Phone Settings:
- Allow Fitbit app to run in background
- Disable battery optimization for Fitbit
- Keep Bluetooth always on

- Enable All-Day Sync in device settings
- Turn off features you don’t use to extend battery

- GymLive never sees your Fitbit password
