Health Connect (Android) Integration

Health Connect is Google’s unified health platform for Android that allows you to manage your fitness and health data from multiple apps in one place. By connecting Health Connect to GymLive, your coach can monitor your workouts and health metrics across all your Android fitness apps.
Health Connect comes pre-installed on devices running Android 14+. For older Android versions, you can download it from the Google Play Store.

What Data Can Be Synced?

Health Connect allows GymLive to access data from all your connected fitness apps:
  • Activity Metrics: Steps, distance, calories, active minutes
  • Workouts: Strength training, cardio, sports activities
  • Heart Rate: Resting, active, and exercise heart rates
  • Sleep Data: Duration, stages, and quality
  • Body Measurements: Weight, body fat, muscle mass
  • Nutrition: Water intake, macros (if tracked)
  • Recovery: Heart rate variability, stress levels

Troubleshooting

  1. Verify Health Connect is installed and updated
  2. Check GymLive has permissions in Health Connect
  3. Ensure source apps (Google Fit, Samsung Health) are connected
  4. Force stop and restart GymLive
  5. Check that data exists in the source apps first
Common issue with Health Connect integration:
  1. In Samsung Health: Settings > Health Connect > App permissions
  2. Ensure Samsung Health is enabled
  3. Go to Settings > Sync with Samsung account
  4. Tap “Sync now” and wait 2-3 minutes
  5. If issues persist, try disconnecting and reconnecting
  1. Uninstall and reinstall Health Connect
  2. Clear app cache: Settings > Apps > Health Connect > Storage > Clear Cache
  3. Revoke all permissions and re-grant them
  4. Ensure all apps are updated to latest versions
Health Connect only shares:
  • Data from the last 30 days before connection
  • All new data after connection
  • For older data, check if source app has export options

Known Limitations

Health Connect Platform IssuesAs Health Connect is relatively new, you may encounter:
  • Sync delays between apps
  • Occasional data gaps
  • Some apps not fully supporting all data types
  • Need to apply for Google permissions before app release

Privacy & Security

  • Health Connect stores data locally on your device
  • You control which apps can read/write specific data types
  • Data is encrypted and never leaves your device without permission
  • Each app must request specific permissions
  • You can delete all Health Connect data at any time

Best Practices

Regular Syncing

Open source apps daily and pull down to sync

Single Source

Use one primary app per data type to avoid conflicts

Keep Updated

Update Health Connect and all connected apps regularly

Check Permissions

Review app permissions monthly to ensure proper access

Deleting Data
